February 17, 2018 – Club Cruise to Madisonville

Things are hopping in Southeast Louisiana with Mardi Gras in full swing and Valentine’s Day immediately thereafter. Here’s a chance to treat your sweetie to a great meal and blow some winter cobwebs off your Mustang with a cruise to Madisonville, LA. Members making the cruise will gather in the Ochsner Hospital parking lot off O’Neal at I-12 for 10:30AM. We plan to leave at 11:00AM and head on I-12 to the Madisonville exit and work our way to Morton’s Restaurant. The restaurant is located in a very picturesque area next to the Tchefuncte River and there is a Maritime Museum nearby. You can view the menu at It would be beneficial to know approximately how many Mustangers will be going on the cruise so please send an email message to which is our club mailbox. Thanks!

BRAM Christmas Party is Dec. 2nd!!!

Thanksgiving was hectic and wonderful but now it is time to get ready for the upcoming visit from the jolly fat man in the red suit! This Saturday, December 2nd, is the Baton Rouge Area Mustangers Christmas Party for BRAM members and their families. This function replaces our usual monthly meeting so we will not be at the Jones Creek Cafe on Wednesday night December 6th.
The party is held in my workshop which is behind my home at 17132 Meadowview Drive in Prairieville. The shop is accessible from Parker Heights Road (across the street from 17140 Parker Heights). Since the weather is predicted to be pretty dry, there will be plenty of parking on the grass by the shop. BRAM is supplying the chicken & sausage gumbo and the rest of the dinner is “pot luck”. If you are bringing a dish, please send a reply email to our club mailbox ( so that I can try to keep track of how many desserts, salads, or appetizers we can expect. Party participants start arriving after 3:30PM and we usually start serving the gumbo somewhere around 5PM. Guests are asked to bring chairs and whatever they prefer to drink (alcohol is okay but remember this is a family function). Coffee, hot chocolate, and ice will be available.
Of course we will have our traditional gift exchange. Each person who wants to participate in the gift exchange should bring a wrapped gift in a black garbage bag. All the garbage bags will be placed under the tree and then we will pick numbers to see who will go 1st, 2nd, and so on. Gifts can be “stolen” during the course of the exchange and there have been some very humorous negotiating that has taken place in the past. Gifts do not have to be car related. Our only rule is that gifts cannot be alive (plants are okay). We suggest that families that are bringing young children should also bring along a little gift for each child so that they don’t feel left out.
Speaking of children’s gifts, we will once again collect toys for the Toys for Tots campaign. This was a big success the last few years. If you wish to contribute to Toys for Tots, please bring a new, unwrapped, toy and place it in the Toys for Tots box.
The annual Christmas Party is always a great time with a lot of great people!  We hope to see you there but if you can’t make it here’s wishing you a Very Merry Christmas!
